Abstract Lipomas are common soft tissue neoplasms but are rarely found in the parotid gland. This report is of a 58-year-old man who had a 3.0 x 2.5 cm soft mass in the right parotid gland. At operation, the main trunk of the facial nerve was identified and a superficial parotidectomy was undertaken. This tumour was histologically diagnosed as a lipoma.
